Exercising Fun for Mommy AND Baby

They say that being a Mom is a full time job; in fact it’s a full time job with endless hours of overtime.  Between the cooking, cleaning, folding, feeding, changing, playing and hopefully sleeping, where are you supposed to find the time to work on that post baby body? How about incorporate your workout with playtime for baby? This way, baby gets the attention and playtime and you get toned- win for everyone! Here are a few exercises that you can do together. Instead of counting reps, we will sing songs to our baby to help keep them entertained.  Do this workout a few times a week and not only will your baby have fun watching you be healthy but you will also feel and look AweMazing!

Bridge Raises:

Lie on your back with baby on your stomach.  Push your heels into the ground and slowly raise your hips off the ground squeezing your glutes on the way up. Slowly lower back to the ground and repeat

  • Sing: 3 Rounds of “Old McDonald Had a Farm”

ABC Abs:

Lay flat on your back with feet straight in the air, baby can sit next to you or on your stomach facing you for an added challenge. With your feet pointed draw each letter of the alphabet as you say the letters to your little one. Keep your belly button pulled in and say the letter slow for the full challenge. Baby Lunges

While holding your baby lunge forward and bend both your legs to a 90-degree angle. Make sure your front knee is not over your toes, and if it is step your front foot out more. Keep your abs pulled tight. You can either bring your back foot up to meet the front foot and change legs or you can slowly pulse up and down. Don’t forget to switch legs, you want an even workout.

  • Sing: Four rounds of “Wheels on the Bus”
  • Options: You can do lunges while pushing the stroller
    • For an added challenge hold the baby in the air as if you are doing a Warrior One yoga pose

Shoulder Press

Stand up and hold baby in front of you. Lift baby up in the air slowly. Bring baby down for a kiss and repeat. (Exercise courtesy of The Daily Green)

  • Sing: One round of “I Love You” slowly

Leg Lifts

            Lay flat on your back with your knees bent and have baby sit on your feet.  Holding their hands slowly raise your knees to a 90 degree angle. Slowly lower your feet back down and repeat

  • Sing:  One round of “5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed”

Wall Sit

            Place baby in your arms facing outward. Standing with your back against the wall, and away from the wall, lower down into a chair position using the wall as support. You can rest baby on your legs if you need to.

  • Sing: One round of “B.I.N.G.O”
    • Options: For an added challenge lift the heel of one leg, switch legs after each verse of “B.I.N.G.O”.
